My Winter Capsule Wardrobe

I am a massive fan of the capsule wardrobe. It’s great when planning out which dressmaking projects to start on. If, like me, you’re paralysed by choice having certain colours and styles already decided for you is fantastic. I use the un-fancy wardrobe planner, it’s  simple and free to download.

Essentially the idea is to pick your favourite eight items for the season, here’s mine:

You can then write what it is that you love about them, colour, style, fit etc. This creates your season’s style. Un-fancy suggests 37 items of clothing for a three month period which works pretty well for me. My chosen colours this winter are charcoal grey, dark navy, black with splashes of gold and red to add colour.

My go-to outfit, perfect for work or a trip into town.

Handmade Alder shirtdress (Grainline Studio) with Joules cowl necked t-shirt, Dorothy Perkins cardigan and thermal navy leggings from Sports Direct.

Smart Casual outfit great for visiting friends and family over the Christmas season.

Handmade Moneta (Collette)  in Viscose Jersey , embellished jumper from Per Una,  Hat  is from Accessorize and handmade cowl scarf.

Comfy and Cosy, the Coco Jumper is great for snuggling up at home or wrapping up for a winter walk.

Handmade Coco Jumper (Tilly and the Buttons) made from Ponti Di Roma and slouchy cigarette’ jeans from Next.

A capsule wardrobe makes the new season’s wear feel entirely new, frees up space and the wardrobe and means your clothes always match! The three month period also means you don’t have long to wait if you spot a gorgeous piece of fabric that doesn’t match your current season.
