Last weekend Sarah and I visited the CHSI (Craft Hobby Stitches International) Trade Show at the NEC in Birmingham to scope out new and exciting fabrics and kits for the shop. The show had over 200 suppliers to check out, which we narrowed down and we’re really excited by the new ranges of fabric, kits and patterns we’ll be bringing you over the next couple of months.
Along side some serious shopping, we met some seriously lovely people- Including The Great British Sewing Bee’s May Martin, Lauren Guthrie and the lovely Stuart Hillard, Hannah and Rosie from The New Craft House, and Pattern Designer Tilly (and the Buttons).
I’m a big fan of Tilly’s pattern range, which probably doesn’t surprise you if we’ve ever spoken in the shop. She’s got a new pattern out, the Dominique, which we ordered of course and look forward to sampling and selling soon. It was great to be able to talk to people I admire and get some gossip about new patterns which are coming out later in the year.
While the majority of the show was focused on business, there was an amazing display – Yarnia – which had scenes from one of my favourite children’s books, The Loin, the Witch and the Wardrobe; all knitted! I can’t imagine how long it took to recreate the costumes, the hair, the animals, but it was truly ‘yarn’-tacular! (sorry.)
We’ll be giving some sneak peeks at the new stock over on Facebook over the next couple of weeks, and as they come in so head over and follow us to see what’s coming.
