At Crafty Sew & So we decided it was well past time we tried to get all those UFOs (Unfinished Objects)…well finished. We all have that pesky project which loom over us. Restarting those dreaded projects was no where near as daunting when we did them all together. It turned out being incredibly fun and helped us focus on getting them finished.
If you want some motivation finishing projects join us on our UFO class, Sarah will be happy to help you with any problems you’re having. We also run an untutored Sewing Cafe every Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoon from 3pm (providing there isn’t a scheduled workshop). During that time, you are welcome to bring your own projects to work on and hire our machines and equipment by the hour.
Mine is a set of Tilly and the Buttons Fifi Pyjamas. I’d stitched and unpicked the french seams of the back panels three times. No longer trusting myself to successfully sew panels together.
After all the redoing, I could no longer do the recommended French seams so used the over locker at Crafty Sew & So. The panels are now attached the right way round! Freya, suggested using the over locker to create a rolled hem along the base of the top. It created a lovely fluted effect. All I need to do now is reattach the bias binding and attach the straps and I will at last have finished my pyjama set.
Freya has been making the Colette Macaron dress which she’s wanted to make since she saw it being made in one of the challenges in the first Sewing Bee.
Made with beautiful gold and black materials Freya thought this would be the perfect for new years eve. However the deadline vanished when she decided to have a quite one instead. After getting quite far working with Sarah to make some fit adjustments she lost enthusiasm for the project. Freya has almost finished her dress now after completing the concealed zip. All she has to do now is finish hem the skirt to have a beautiful party dress.
Sarah began making a messenger bag after Stuart Hillard, from the The Great British Sewing Bee, ran a fantastic workshop at Crafty Sew & So back in November.
With the shop bustling over Christmas, and Sarah making fantastic presents for her friends and family, she had very little time to sew anything for herself. Sarah’s simply got to sew the the straps to the main bag and she’s finished her UFO.
Here we all are with are almost finished projects. come join us on the 29th January to get your UFOs finished.
